I Will Never Love You More Than Singing In The Shower, So If You Don't Want To Party Your Ass Got To Go.

The November CD release was celebrated in perhaps the best style of any of the releases. The Other Side accommodated the release to quite an extent and played the CD so that all attendees could enjoy it while also being served what seemed an endless supply of New Castles.

This month's compilation (title compliments of Soko's newest myspace release, I Will Never Love You More and the Rob Zombie and DMX mix, Frog the Dawg, with the chorus line, If you don't want to party, your ass got to go) was produced with a completely new style. Instead of being compiled of all new music found upon a hunger search, it was all found by letting the music come through listening to streaming audio... ChipperDemon is not thrilled with the result but is willing to give it some time to give a thorough analysis.

"Now that I have the mostly complete ChipperDemon archives at my fingertips, I'm following instructions by giving each set a couple of spins and commenting on them accordingly. 1. Napoleon Says - Phoenix The danceable rhythm and lo-fi ringing guitar make for a strong opener. 2. Saint John - Cold War Kids This is a bluesier side to the Cold War Kids than I've heard before. It's not traditionally my speed, but this is one track I kept coming back to even outside of my two-listen-minimum. 3. Breakfast in America (Supertramp cover) - Ian Ball I like this low-key cover, and it almost shoves The Gym Class Heroes' version out of my head. For that, I'm thankful. 4. Little Miss Pipedream - The Wombats This is only the second Wombats song I've heard, but it makes me want to seek out more. Even though the instrumentation is stripped down and subdued, it's still intriguingly bouncy, elevated by those layers of harmonies. 5. Up the Long Tracks - Beatbeat Whisper I'm kind of fascinated by the way the male/female vocals are alternately shrill and beautiful. The gingerly plucked, unaccompanied acoustic guitar is an effective followup to "Little Miss Pipedream". 6. Love Is Colder than Death - The Virgins That 808-style snare that kicks off the song caught my ear, leaving me wondering which of a couple hundred different directions it might spin off into from there. I really love that playful guitar bit around the 2:24 mark. 7. Electric Feel - MGMT For some reason, I'm curious how this would've played if saddled next to the Cold War Kids track despite the two not sounding especially alike. I've heard this one as it made the rounds on Sirius, but I still keep forgetting that MGMT really can dial down the synthesizers. 8. Emo Philips - Arrah and the Ferns I've never been much of a fan of Emo Philips outside of 'UHF', but at least I can say I like this song that nicks his name. My mildly meta sense of humor made me smirk hearing "Oh Emm Gee" spoken aloud. 9. Never Be Alone - Justice vs. Simian Like The Virgins' track, this has a very '80s-flavored backbeat, bolstered further by the retro keys and chirping synthbass. 10. The Pleasure Is Mine - Plastic Operator The sequence flows nicely with "The Pleasure Is Mine" sporting a similarly retro feel to "Never Be Alone", and since it's a bit poppier, it segues into "Sometimes You Have to Work on Christmas" pretty nicely as well. 11. Sometimes You Have to Work on Christmas - Long Winters Neat. I have the original version of this on a KROQ Christmas CD from a lifetime ago, and it sounds almost entirely different. Harvey Danger's spin on it is fairly somber and has more of a sense of longing, but I do like this very different take on it as well. 12. Holding All the Globes - BOAT I wish the lead vocals were a bit more melodic or lively, but this short track is a nice segue into the final third or so of the CD. 13. Bridges and Balloons - Joanna Newsom Ack. The Jennifer Tilly-sucking-down-a-couple-pounds-of-compressed-helium twee vocals kill it for me. 14. Moving to New York - The Wombats It's not as deliriously poppy as "Let's Dance to Joy Division", but this more upbeat track is a nice contrast from the other Wombats song on here and highlights two very different sides of the band. 15. Oxford Comma - Vampire Weekend The subject matter is obviously near and dear to my heart. I know Vampire Weekend has been struggling against a Mighty Hipster Backlash, but I'll admit that as simple, straightforward, and (audible gasp!) popular as they are, I still find the band's afrobeat-inflected indie-pop to be infectiously catchy. 16. We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives - Los Campesinos! I've picked up Los Campesinos' full-lengths as they've bowed on these shores, but I clearly still need to plow through their singles, EPs, and B-sides since I'm wholly unfamiliar with this one. It's more roughly hewn than the couple dozen songs they blasted out in '08 for their pair of LPs, and although that caught me a bit off-guard, I still really dig it. 17. Lulu - Beatbeat Whisper Even though the instrumentation isn't altogether worlds removed from Beatbeat Whisper's other track on this set, there's something very different about it. I could almost picture the two singers playfully winking at each other throughout "Up the Long Tracks", but the shifting emphasis in vocals and somewhat more serious tone sound like an almost different act entirely. 18. Is That All There Is? - Christina *THAT* is a deceptive intro. This isn't my usual flavor, but it's an inspired choice for a closing track and sounds as if it could be the last song in a revue. 19. BONUS TRACK! CSS - Music is My Hot Hot Sex Ah, there's that iPod promo connection. The title this time around is genius.
